Canada in Asia: What's Our Comparative Advantage?

Presented by thePanel in partnership with Intuit

28 MAR '18

OTTAWA

MEDIA COVERAGE

The rise of Asia – China and India in particular – is changing the world's perceptions of the region. Notwithstanding significant challenges, there are opportunities for Canada. Our people-to-people ties with Asian countries are strong: the Department of Citizenship and Immigration reports that the Asia Pacific region was the largest source of permanent residents to Canada from 2002-2011, accounting for 48.4 percent of permanent residents in 2011.  The Philippines, China and India were Canada's top source countries from 2009-2011. The premiere event of thePANEL examined Canada's role in Asia and its comparative advantage as it increases its engagement in the region.
